ANYWHERE A WALL MEETS YOUR LIFE

Libraries, wine rooms, media walls, laundry, garage, and home office — custom cabinetry that looks like it was born with the house.

The Rooms Between the Rooms

The difference between furniture and architecture is about half an inch.

That half inch is the gap a store-bought bookcase leaves at the wall, the ceiling, the baseboard. A true built-in closes it. We scribe to your walls, wrap the crown, ride the baseboard, and finish every visible edge — so the piece reads as part of the house, not something parked against it.

Built-ins are where three decades of cabinetmaking get to show off. A library wall has to carry the weight of a thousand books without a shelf ever sagging. A media wall has to swallow cables, vent components, and still look serene with the screen off. A laundry room has to work as hard as a commercial back-of-house and clean up as nicely as the kitchen. Each one is drawn by an iKitchen designer, manufactured in Canada, and installed by our own teams — the same process behind our custom kitchens and walk-in closets.

And like everything we build, they run on European hardware — Blum hinges, Hettich runners, Häfele fittings — and carry a lifetime manufacturer warranty.

What We Build

Six rooms that earn their walls.

Home Libraries

Floor-to-ceiling shelving with reinforced spans, rolling ladders, integrated reading lights, and closed storage below for everything that isn't beautiful.

Wine Rooms & Bars

Display racking, bottle storage engineered to your collection, glassware cabinets, and bar counters — coordinated with cooling and glazing contractors.

Media Walls

Recessed screens, ventilated component bays, hidden wire chases, and fireplace surrounds — a living room wall that stays calm with the TV off.

Laundry & Mudrooms

Folding counters, hampers behind doors, drying rails, and lockers for every member of the household — hard-working rooms finished like front-of-house.

Garage Systems

Durable cabinetry, workbenches, and wall storage that bring showroom order to the most underestimated room in the house.

Home Offices

Built-in desks, workwalls, file drawers, and camera-ready shelving — designed for the way you actually work, wired before it ships.

Why It Lasts

Measured twice. Built once. There for good.

A built-in is a commitment — it becomes part of the house, so it has to be right the first time. That starts with laser site measurement and drawings that account for every outlet, vent, and out-of-square corner. It continues in our Canadian facility, where panels are cut to the millimeter and finishes are applied under controlled conditions. It ends with an installation crew that treats scribing to a hundred-year-old plaster wall as the fun part.

The process is the same three steps as every iKitchen project: design consultation (retainers start at $3,000, credited toward your project), precision manufacturing over 8–12 weeks, and white-glove delivery and installation. Most built-ins install in a matter of days.

Built-Ins FAQ

Good questions to ask before committing to a wall.

What counts as a built-in? What rooms do you work in?

Anywhere a wall meets your life: home libraries and reading nooks, wine rooms and bars, media walls, laundry rooms, mudrooms, garage systems, and home offices. If it attaches to the architecture and needs to look like it was always there, it's a built-in.

How is a custom built-in different from bookcases or store-bought units?

A freestanding unit sits in a room; a built-in becomes part of it. We scribe to your walls, ceiling, and baseboards, wrap around windows and radiators, and finish every visible surface — so the piece reads as architecture, adds real storage, and adds value that furniture never does.

Can you integrate TVs, speakers, and wiring into a media wall?

Yes. Media walls are planned around your equipment — recessed TV niches, ventilated component bays, hidden wire chases, and speaker fabric panels — coordinated with your AV installer before production so nothing is cut in the field.

Do you build climate-ready wine rooms?

We design and build the racking, display, and cabinetry for wine rooms and coordinate with your contractor's cooling and glazing. Bottle counts, display angles, and materials are all planned to your collection.

What do custom built-ins cost and how long do they take?

Built-ins are quoted per project — size, materials, and integrated lighting or equipment shape the number. Design retainers start at $3,000, credited toward your project. Production typically runs 8–12 weeks, and most built-ins install in a few days. More answers on our FAQ page.
