The house is one long glazed volume, so the kitchen had nowhere to hide — no return wall, no corner, nothing behind it. What we built instead is a freestanding island in a dark satin finish, sized and detailed like a piece of furniture, with the working storage moved into a full-height wall of tall units that closes flush.
Everything that could be integrated was integrated. Appliances sit behind matching fronts, the extraction is concealed in the ceiling plane, and there are no handles anywhere — because in a room with glass on three sides, hardware is the thing you would see from the garden.
The living spaces continue the same discipline: low storage runs the length of the wall, and joinery stops short of the glazing so the roof plane reads as unsupported.
