Black Marble Stair House

The stair is clad in black marble with white veining, treads and risers both, which is a heavy and unforgiving thing to build — every joint is visible and the veining has to run up the flight rather than restart at each step.

The kitchen answers it in black gloss with a brass reveal, and the marble floor carries the same palette across the ground floor.

Red velvet furniture is the only colour in the house, and it works precisely because there is so little of it.
